NIGHT NAPPIES? ON OR OFF?
Theo was 5 years old, a healthy, happy and active child. He was a great sleeper, but suffered bedwetting and sometimes wet 3 times a night. His mum received well-meaning advice from a friend.
HELP! MY TEENAGER WETS THE BED AT NIGHT!
The impact on families with a bedwetting teenager is huge. Shame, fear of judgement, blame and excessive laundry. The teen is often left to suffer dwindling self-esteem, isolation from social activity with peers, and a sense of defeat.
TO REWARD OR NOT TO REWARD YOUR CHILD ?
Rewards are often put forward as a solution to solving bedwetting (enuresis) in children 7 years and over. Many well-meaning health professionals or family members will suggest a reward system. A sticker chart, money or similar is encouraged if the night nappy is to be removed or trying to encourage dry nights.
Bedwetting often causes conflict within relationships. Exhaustion, frustration, accusations, and continuous arguing re the causes and treatments of bedwetting, can all take a toll. Cultural differences and the perceived lack of cooperation between separated parents also bring struggles and emotional fatigue.
